Related Experience
Now this is a big one, and what is commonly an issue for most people trying to get themselves started, related and relevant experience has a huge part to play in determining the outcome of your career search.

It is important to be open to all industries of relevance, whether that is a different financial service or a client-facing (non-insurance) field, it is important to acknowledge the benefits of these other industries.
A common industry, away from finance, that insurance employees have previously been associated with is the hospitality and retail sector. Whether it is bartending, waitering, shop assisting etc. these roles all develop meaningful skills.
Client relations are a pivotal part of the insurance industry, so if you can provide evidence of successful client/customer interactions it will go a long way in showing your potential.
Remember, whilst you may not be seeking a career in one of these fields, it can be useful to take a step back into a different industry to give yourself the right springboard into two steps into insurance. One step back, but two steps forward.
Beneficial non-Insurance roles

These are not strict suggestions, merely a guide to what sort of roles that would be advisable. Anything that is client facing is a good start, something that can really develop your social skills and communication ability not only with clients but your team as well.
